| The Berlin Wall. The longest surviving part of the wall now forms the East Side Gallery. A 300m section of wall was turned over to artists, who painted thematic designs all over it, many relating to the Cold War and the divided Berlin, although some look a bit more abstract and odd. The painting in the photo shows the wall passing by the Brandenberg Gate at the heart of Berlin. This is the very point where East faced West, the most potent symbol of the Cold War and the divided continent of Europe. |

| A colourful section of the East Side Gallery. And yes, it was snowing. |

| A view from the top of the Siegessaule monument in the Tiergarten (a huge park in the middle of Berlin) along the Strasse des 17 Juni towards East Berlin and the Brandenberg Gate. The Soviet Space Needle towers over the city in the background. |

| Flowers on the Soviet war memorial by the Brandenberg gate. Pretty. But saddening if you think about it. |

| The Siegessaule victory monument, adorned with angel. Berlin is full of angels. Berlin is also full of stupidly tall monuments. |

| A pretty doll seen in a shop window on the Unter der Linden. *squeeeeee* |

| Berlin covered in snow, seen from the observation level of the Soviet Space Needle of doom! Yay snow! |
