Moscow Photos

SNOW SNOW SNOW! The Novodevichy (New Maiden's) Convent, Moscow. 16th Century. Very pretty.

More snow and more convent.

Yet more convent.

Guess what? I liked this convent.

Red Square at midnight, new year's eve, at the start of 2005. Big screens of Putin (worshiped practically as a god over there!) everywhere. It was all sparkly with fireworks, glitter bombs and prettyness. If theryes one hting Russians are good at, it's how to put on an impressive firework display. Yay! As they piped loud triumphal patriotic Russian anthems into the square which people sang along to, we downed champagne and vodka we'd somehow managed to smuggle into the square.

Blurry long-exposure photo of Red Square. Perfectly captures the effect of downing too much vodka at midnight, I think. *grins*
