Prague Photos

Some photos of the magic of Prague, which I visited for my birthday in February 2003.

The above photo shows a spectacular view over the river of Karlov Most (Charles Bridge) and the Castle.

Prague is famous for its very tall pointed gothic towers. These double towers belong to the Tyn church where Tycho Brahe is buried.

The Jan Hus monument in the very pretty old town square of Prague.

The Astronomical Clock. This not only tells you the hour of day, but also many other seasonal variations and lunar phases. Most amusingly, every hour when the clock chimes, the figure of Death (on the right of the clockface) pulls a rope which makes a collecitonof Saints dance around the doors at the top.

Karlov Most (Charles Bridge), the oldest bridge in Prague. The bridge is lined with many statues of saints. This pictures was taken from the top of the gatetower on one end of the bridge.

The exceedingly pretty and exquisite Obecni Dum (Municipal House). Adorned in the Art Nouveau style by Alfons Mucha, this is a very magical building. The inside is even prettier, but photographs weren't allowed, which is a pity. We dined here for my birthday, in the very posh 5 star restaurant.

The very gothic looking Powder Tower.

Prague in the snow!! This view of the castle from the observation tower on the top of Petrin Hill.

Inside Prague castle is the very ancient and very prettily decorated St. Vitus's Cathedral.

Famed for being the most extravagant and gothic church in Europe, St Barbera's Cathedral in the ancient historical Czech town of Kutna Hora is a sight to behold, especially in the snow.
